Use the Oregon fall foliage map to compare color timing across the Cascades, Columbia River Gorge, Willamette Valley, southern Oregon, and eastern mountain valleys. Oregon fall color is patchier than New England, but local pockets of maple, aspen, oak, cottonwood, and vine maple can be excellent when timing lines up.
Hood River, the Columbia River Gorge, Silver Falls State Park, Bend, Ashland, Mount Hood, and parts of the Wallowa Mountains can all produce strong fall color. Elevation, moisture, and forest type create large differences between coastal forests, valley towns, and high mountain areas.
Use the map to identify promising regions, then check a specific town, trail, or scenic drive with the fall foliage forecast. In Oregon, the best color is often highly local, so a point forecast can be more useful than assuming the whole state is changing together.
